​Helen joined STFC in July 2020 in the role of ASTeC Business Development Manager. She started her career in industry working in perfumery and cosmetic science at PZ Cussons after completing a degree in Biochemistry and German. After 13 years spend in secondary education teaching Chemistry, Helen moved to a role working closely with industry within the Science Industry Partnership to address future skills needs within the industry. 

In her new role Helen works closely with industry to find solutions to their challenges and enable them to test, validate and improve products and processes through accessing world-leading particle acceleration facilities and expertise, boosting R&D and protecting IP. ASTeC's facilities include electron beam test facilities from 80KeV to 50MeV and radiation shielded enclosures for product development. Helen supports businesses in accessing ASTeC's expertise in all areas of accelerator design and build from radio frequency systems and vacuum and surface science to magnets and cryogenics. She works with clients from a wide range of industries including security, energy, healthcare, materials and advanced manufacturing.
