I started work at Daresbury Laboratory on June 14th 2018 initially on a 3-month contract as contingent labour to help out during staff shortages. On October 1st 2018 I became a permanent member of staff working as an Administrator in ASTeC. I work alongside the ASTeC Directorate team and assist with events, travel, meeting bookings, minute taking, stationery /furniture ordering, etc. I have recently been appointed as Secretary for the Staff Recognition Scheme within ASTeC. Since joining DL I have worked on several events including UKSR50 and Vacuum Symposium 9, all of which I found very enjoyable and interesting. I am hoping over the next 6/12 months I will gain a wider knowledge of the business and gain lots of experience of the many activities that take place here.
I was born in Little Sutton and attended Ellesmere Port Catholic High School. My career began in 1984 where I took up a YTS placement at Shell Research Ltd, (Thornton Research Centre, Ellesmere Port). After 9 months I was offered a permanent position there as a Clerical Assistant in the Procurement department. Over the 20 years I spent there my career progressed and I became the Senior Buyer for the site following a huge re-organisation and redundancy programme. Following the birth of my daughter several years later I decided to take severance to allow me to work part-time and gain a work-life balance. I have had several buyer and admin roles since then and my most previous role before joining DL was as PA to the General Manger at The Park Royal Hotel.
I currently live in Appleton and I am Mum to Ellie who is now 17 and I have a puppy called Minnie who is a miniature toy poodle (and very cute). My interests include running (not very much at the moment though) and I enjoy walking with my dog and socialising.
