Jim Clarke
Director
Jim is the Director of ASTeC and a recognised leader in particle accelerator science. Over the course of his career, he has worked across a wide range of accelerator technologies, from synchrotrons and storage rings to linacs and energy recovery systems, with a particular focus on advancing light source development.
His expertise spans the full spectrum of accelerator systems, including magnets, undulators, diagnostics, beam dynamics, and FELs. Jim has also contributed to major international projects in particle physics, neutrino research, and industrial applications. A passionate communicator and educator, he has delivered over forty invited talks and lectures around the world and is the author of two text books, helping to inspire the next generation of accelerator scientists.
