In addition to its Directorate ASTeC has 7 professional groups.
The Accelerator Physics Group, led by Deepa Angal-Kalinin, is able to model the behaviour of charged particle beams in accelerators and transport systems, including aspects of nonlinear beam dynamics.
Diagnostics and Instrumentation
ASTeC Directorate staff support both the Director of Daresbury Laboratory and the Technical Director of ASTeC.
Femtosecond Lasers and Timing
The Femtosecond Lasers and Timing (FLT) group at ASTeC is underpinning the development of future particle accelerators by enabling the manipulation of ultrashort charged particle beams with single-femtosecond precision.
Magnetics and Radiation Sources
The Magnetics and Radiation Sources (MaRS) Group is part of the Accelerator Science and Technology Centre (ASTeC).
Programmes and Facilities
The Programmes and Facilities group, led by Andy Goulden; is responsible for the delivery of several large international projects as well managing and supporting daily operations of the major accelerator test facilities on site.
Radio Frequency and Cryogenics
The group, led by Alan Wheelhouse, comprises engineers and physicists who develop state of the art RF, Diagnostics and Cryogenics systems for electron and proton particle accelerators.
The Vacuum Science Group is based at Daresbury Laboratory and is part of the UK's Accelerator Science and Technology Centre, ASTeC.
